This post is quite photo heavy but I was so excited to finally share with you what our finished main bathroom looks like with a Grey and Yellow Bathroom makeover post. It has taken quite a while to work out what I wanted to do with this room. It was all white for a long time and I knew that I wanted to paint one feature wall behind the toilet but just couldn’t decide on the colour. When we chose the bathroom tiles I had thought about the white subway, grey grout and dark tiled floor like so many people have but opted for something a bit different. I chose instead these long grey tiles instead from Wickes and we had all round the bath tiled, the shower enclosure, sink splashback and windowsill tiled too. I tried so many colours of paint on the wall trying to find something that sat next to the tile colour ok but in the end settled actually for something quite subtle, a pale grey paint called Grey Hints from the Colours range and B&Q. Its just enough to make that wall and my white ladder shelf stand out against it.
Here’s some before and after shots.

I bought the ladder shelf to sit in the gap between the bath and the toilet and it fills it perfectly and is great for displaying and storing bits. The flooring I chose a lino that looks like grey patterned tiles, much warmer than tiles and a nice bit of pattern too I think plus it ties in with the tile colour too. As an accent colour I decided to go with yellow and grey and picked up these beautiful striped towels from Matalan. They are the loveliest cotton and I got enough to have a nice little pile on my shelves and a couple of hand towels for the towel rail too. I also got a bathmat from there too which is grey with a trim of the same mustard yellow on the edges.
For some hints of warmth I chose this pedal bin and toilet brush with a bamboo wooden lid also from Matalan, where lots of my bathroom bits came from to be honest. I love the hint of wood. For some elements of greenery I have a couple of fake plants including this amazing hanging plant in a concrete planter which was also Matalan too. A bargain at £10!!

For some real greenery I picked up this Bathroom plant from Aldi, perfect for steamy rooms apparently in a grey pot. I’ve sat it on a concrete plant stand that I DIY’d. Its actually a piece of stone drilled out of the theatre I used to work at. I’ve given it a concrete paint effect and sat my plant on it and I love how it looks plus its a memento of where I used to work. The mirror was another DIY, a sale mirror in B&Q which I painted grey with chalk paint. I’ve linked everything in the bathroom below
And thats it, a little look at my grey and yellow bathroom makeover. You can see all my other room makeover posts here and see what else I got from Matalan in my Matalan haul video.
