Frigiliana Malaga
Frigiliana Malaga is a total hidden gem. Its a traditional white washed village part of Andalusia in southern Spain. We visited back in 2010 and loved it so much we decided to visit again this Summer. Voted the ‘prettiest village in Andalucía’ by the Spanish tourism authority this town is so picturesque and has so many photo opportunities. From the gorgeous decorative cobblestone floors to the bright blue doors, round every corner is a perfect photo.
The village has two parts to it. The upper section of Frigiliana is the older Morisco-Mudéjar neighbourhood. This area has such an old and traditional feel and is full of pretty pink flowers and plant pots. Lower down the village is much newer and more modern.

Things to do in Frigiliana Malaga
Frigiliana Malaga has a lovely selection of shops tucked away in the narrow streets as well as cafes and restaurants. There are also lots of other things to check out whilst you are in Frigiliana.
The Fuente Vieja (old fountain) at the bottom of the steps is so pretty. Also see if you can find the San Antonio church in the square, or the tiny Santo Cristo de la Caña chapel and the Renaissance Palace of the Counts of Frigiliana.
Another place to visit is the remains of the old Moorish castle at the top of the village. Not much is left of the castle, but the views are spectacular.
You can also spot lots of plaques around the village. There are twelve ceramic plaques that are situated throughout the old section of the village. They tell the story of the Moorish uprising and the last battles that were fought in the area.
Also well worth a visit is the local market which has clothes, gifts and local produce. Frigiliana’s market days are Thursdays and Sundays.

Places to eat in Frigiliana Malaga
There are plenty of lovely places to eat in Frigiliana either for lunch or dinner. One of the best for dinner is the Restaurante El Mirador which lit up by morrocan lanterns has the most amazing views over Frigiliana and along with really yummy food we watched the sun set over the village.
Other lovely places are Bar Virtudes where we sat outside and had a yummy pizza last time we visited and Restaurante la Cantina del Ingenio where we had a really tasty lunch last time too.

We love this area of Spain so much and definitely plan to go back to Frigiliana again. We like to stay in a villa in the mountains and I have a blog post coming all about the villa we stayed in this time and what else we got up to whilst we were away. You can check out all my holiday outfits below.
